age 1 to 6 months;
• pup-hood • depends greatly on mother, cannot live without true mother • awkward, clumsy, blind for a month • starting to fill out and grow
age 6 months to 1 year;
• old pup-hood • can eat food besides suckling • begins training/hunting,etc. • half the size of regular breed, growing fast
age 1 year to 2 years;
• youth • cannot mate, still growing • can participate in basic pack life
age 2 years to 3 years;
• young adult • able to reproduce • able to take part in daily pack life
age 3 years to 7 years;
• adult • able to reproduce but risky at later age • fully grown
age 7 years to 12 years;
• older adult • may live past 12, but rarely to 14 • retired to elder status, may not reproduce • failing sight and movement
